Wedding Planning 101

Oh my people. I feel as though they should offer classes in "How to Plan a Wedding 101". This is HARD! Its not that we don't know what needs to be done its more that there seems to be some weird unwritten schedules and rules that are associated to a successful wedding. For instance...most wedding websites say that you need to book a photographer six months out from the actual day along with the DJ. Now, in my effort to find out how much either of these services cost (which they also don't like to tell you by the way) I found out that they are already booking. Yeah ALREADY BOOKING for a year in advance. Crazy right?
Its ok though! So far we have our venue which was my first choice!! We also have our photographer, wedding coordinator (yup we have one....not because I can't plan a wedding but because I don't want to have to work my own wedding), and DJ.
Our Photographer is simply wonderful!! I happened across them on a wedding website and after meeting them I fell in love. They are F7 Photography http://www.f7photography.com its a husband and wife team that just gets the most amazing shots. I had met with another photographer first and they just didn't seem to click. And after meeting the Guzman's it just felt right. They were so much fun and dog lovers too! If you know anything about my family you know that if you don't love the dogs then we probably don't love you. Its just how it is. So, when Jennifer's first question for me upon meeting was "ok so lets see the puppy pictures" it had to be good right? Their fun personalities and amazing pictures will really make our day even better so I couldn't be more excited to have them!!
Our wedding coordinator is Sherry from Mckenzie Kate weddings. She is wonderful too! She has been sooooooo wildly helpful way above and beyond what she has to do! We hired her for what they call month of service, its the help with all the last minute stuff basically. Even though she was hired for limited service she has been a HUGE help already!!!!!
Our DJ is also amazing. His name is Austin http://www.theseattledj.com and he is simply wonderful. Josh and I had a phone meeting with him recently and all his philosophies about a great reception and his suggestions were exactly what we were looking for. He will make our day amazing and unique to us, which you couldn't ask for more from a DJ.
So far my idea for the wedding has been to simply have fun. Have fun planning, get fun people as vendors, and just have an fun amazing day getting marred to my best friend! I don't see how we can miss if having fun is the goal. And until they create the "how to plan a wedding 101" class I'm going to stick with my just have fun idea.
